TO HOST FUNDRAISER FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS, RESEARCH ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21ST IN DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY Breast cancer survivor, Power & Light District employee to donate money raised to St Joseph's KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 12th, 2011) - On any regular evening, Bret Miller may be found tending bar at Tengo Sed Cantina, a restaurant/bar located in the Kansas City Power & Light District. Next Friday, October 21st, Bret will be the bartender at Fuego in the KC Live Block Living Room, as he hosts a fundraiser to help raise awareness for male breast cancer. Also building AWARENESS of early detection in both women and men by raising money for technology updates for a local hospital. Bret Miller is currently the youngest man to survive breast cancer in the United States that is documented. He was diagnosed April 28, 2010, at the age of 24. Bret is currently in remission, and on Anastrozole for 4 more years, Bret celebrated one-year cancer free on September 21, 2011. Along with his family, Bret has started The Bret Miller 1T Foundation, www.CHECKTHEM.org, and will host the fundraiser on Friday, October 21st, at KC Live to help raise funds for St. Joseph's Breast Center. All proceeds go directly to St. Joseph Breast Center for an 3D Automated Breast Ultrasound Machine The media and public are encouraged to bring donations and purchase wristbands from 4 pm to 7 pm. The wristbands cost $10 each, and get participants a raffle ticket and access to additional food and drink specials at participating restaurants and bars, including Tengo Sed Cantina, Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge, McFadden's Sports Saloon, Pizza Bar, Fuego, Living Room, Shark Bar and more. Raffle tickets will be drawn every 30 minutes for prizes that include gift cards, a new Tabulous Cloud tablet, that has a new office in Lee's Summit, and additional prizes from other local companies. Following the happy hour fundraiser, guests are invited to stick around for a free concert by country star Phil Vassar. The concert begins at 7 pm with Travis Marvin opening.
